Kill me
I shook hands with Andrew Bolt today, aka the incarnation of right-wing, populist sensationalism. I was going to say evil.My dad knows him, and we bumped into him at Borders. He stuck out his hand to me. What was I to do? Ergh. I must saw it off now. I even said "pleased to meet you" but let me assure you that was entirely sarcastic!
I immediately rang up my friend Kay who I thought would appreciate the disgustingness of this meeting.
I can't exactly justify why I have this visceral reaction to him, no particular examples of his evilness. It's just that he's just the most shit-stirring conservative bastard ever. I recall one of his articles from ages ago: women are more into new age stuff. New age stuff has never been proven. Therefore women are stupid. Therefore women should not be in parliament. He's also denied the existence of the stolen generation. FFS.
Argh. I came away with the idea of creating a BoltWatch site to pick apart his articles, but I just found out that this has already been done.
