Really badly expressed but brilliant ideas I swear
>> A photo/video project showing people's faces from each country/region in the world, but in some sort of progression so you can see the linkages and gradual changes in features. Like for the Eurasian landmass, it could be Nordics => WEurope => Mediterranean => Middle East => Central Asia/Indian subcontinent => East Asia => South Asia.Or something like that, my geography isn't so hot.
>> Similarly, some kind of linguistic progression following the journey of a word. Like peace => paix => pace and there I exhaust my knowledge, but something along those lines. OR OR OR, even cooler, you could have the aforementioned people from each country SAYING the word. It'll be all "we are the world".
Now, someone go do it. Actually, maybe it's already been done for a Benetton commercial or similar.
Speaking of journeys, I was thinking that it'd be tres cool to learn languages in progression so you always know a few cognates and similar structures from the previous one. An English speaker could start with French, for example, moving onto its fellow romance language Spanish, then taking a flying leap into North Africa to learn Arabic. Dutch via German. Then again, it might not work for all languages. What would you learn before Chinese? Or Greek or Japanese?
