Something witty
What is Andrew Denton's trick? I've been trying to work this out since the first time I saw him interview someone on Enough Rope. He extracts such honesty and humanity from the unlikeliest sources (Steve Irwin, anyone?). He always knows when the interview is heading into boring/awkard/tasteless territory and steers it back. His guests are always at ease. I think it's something to do with his sincerity and self-deprecation. He asks difficult questions, but they never seem to be an attack. Plus, he dares to reach into really emotional stuff but it doesn't seem corny because his wit is always close at hand.Someone should bottle what he's got and sell it to Rove.
