I rented "L'Auberge Espagnole" yesterday, and now I want to run away to Spain and get drunk and have cool multilingual friends and become cool myself. Apparently that's what uni is meant to be like, instead of eating lunch alone and going to the library all the time and pulling your hair out studying a subject you don't even like and can't remember why you chose but you already paid for it and it'd be a waste if you quit now, wouldn't it.

Ranting aside, if you haven't heard of the movie, it's about Xavier, a French economics student who goes on an Erasmus exchange to Barcelona. He shacks up with a bunch of other international students. Havoc and hilarity ensues.

Would you believe, I watched this movie twice in a row. It's that good. Sure, it's a fairly typical coming-of-age story, but the style is really refreshing, the actors are convincing, and man...it's dream fulfillment. See, an auberge esgpagnole is exactly what I need. A bunch of crazy funky happy friends to sort me out and stop me becoming a braindead empty shell or one of those quiet people who one day decide to take a gun to work. Any takers?
